Working from her Nuremberg studio, she became celebrated as one of the finest watercolourists of her generation, earning praise from contemporaries including physician and collector Christoph Jacob Trew. Born into an artistic dynasty, her father Johann Israel Dietzsch trained all seven of his children as artists, Barbara Regina emerged as the family's brightest star, specialising in botanical subjects that blurred the line between scientific documentation and pure aesthetic pleasure.
