Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1958, Keith Haring became a global contemporary art icon after arriving in New York in 1978. Between 1980-1985, he created over 40 subway drawings, transforming New York's underground into an impromptu street art gallery.

His iconic "radiant baby" and "barking dog" motifs became universal symbols of joy in popular culture. In 1986, Haring opened his Pop Shop, selling affordable merchandise to democratise contemporary art access.

Alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf, Haring helped define the East Village art scene of the 1980s, establishing street art as a legitimate contemporary movement that challenged traditional fine art boundaries.

What sets this luxury art publication apart is its focus on Haring's activism and community engagement. Titled after a quote from the artist's own journals, the book emphasises his egalitarian approach to contemporary art and his unwavering belief that fine art should break down barriers rather than create them.

The volume features essays and reflections by leading cultural figures, offering fresh perspectives on Haring's enduring relevance to today's discussions around environmentalism, capitalism, technology, religion, sexuality, and race. This makes it not just a visual celebration but an intellectual exploration of how street art can address complex social issues.
